Lifestyle and Religion – PTP087 2

Play

PTP087In today’s episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast we break down how lifestyle and religion can easily become one. Not only that, we examine how religious beliefs and traditions can sometimes cease to fit into the equation. It’s difficult finding the balance between what you feel is right, what you still want to honour and what family members expect of you. At what point do you put lifestyle over extended family’s values? These are all really hard ideas to decide on and execute with grace. Inevitably, anyone who has undergone a lifestyle shift will have some tough decisions to make.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Our quote of the day: “It’s better to walk alone than with a crowd going in the wrong direction”. ~ Diane Grant
  • Lifestyle becomes religion
  • Putting your health above other religious or nonreligious values you grew up with
  • When rules just don’t make sense anymore
  • Hallmark Holidays
  • Family Expectations
  • When to conform and not
  • Putting your health before tradition
  • When to just let go for one day

I really enjoyed this podcast overall and I felt like the topic was covered well from every aspect. It really gave me a better understanding of all the connections between lifestyle and religion, from a Jewish standpoint as well as religions in general. When Adam brought up the point about your lifestyle becoming like your religion, I felt like I could really relate to that. I have been slowly shifting my lifestyle to revolve more around fitness and health, as it makes me feel happier and more energetic, but I have never really felt that I could compare it to a religion. However, now that you brought it up, I think that someone who has become so committed to their new lifestyle that it becomes a priority at the same status of religion, will definitely become extremely successful at what they do. Not only do I think more success will come, but that person will live his life and do what he does with much more passion and drive. So although I haven’t gotten to that point of dedication yet, I now believe that having that much commitment to a healthy lifestyle is really something to strive for. Another part of the discussion that I enjoyed was the Passover food. I always say the exact same thing about Passover and how the food aspect of the holiday has become more of a money making scam than an enjoyable part of the holiday. I was glad to hear someone else make the same point!

Thank you for sharing, i really enjoyed listening!
