In today’s episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast we talk to Dr. Jami Dulaney about everything you need to know about heart health and a plant-based diet just in time for February, which is “Heart Month”. She walks us through how she embraced a plant-based diet personally and how she brought it into her practice. Dr. Dulaney has literally traded her scalpel for a spatula. She went from doing multiple procedures a day to teaching cooking and plant-based classes. She does this to educate her patients and help them make changes in their lives that will help them have the best chances of avoiding cardiac events. We go through all the vocabulary you keep hearing about heart health to help you really understand what they all mean. We include the important factors about cholesterol, oil and baby aspirin.
Dr. Jami Dulaney went to West Virginia University for undergraduate and medical school. She did her residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. She was on the faculty at West Virginia University before moving to Florida to begin her private practice. Dr. Dulaney is very excited about the potential to reverse disease through nutrition and has incorporated nutrition education classes into her primary care and cardiology practice.
