Instagram post 17950302685768198 Repost from @theguthealthmd

Save this post so you can come back to it when you need it.😉😉

There’s a lot we can learn from our poo💩. I actually view it as a window into the health of our gut microbiota.

For example, you can gather some powerful information from the color🌈

BROWN: It’s supposed to be brown!

BLACK: Bleeding in the intestines (especially stomach) is possible. But it could also be that you ate licorice, are using an iron supplement or bismuth medication, or overdid it on the blueberries.

SUPER GREEN: Either things are passing through too fast (diarrhea) or you overdid it with the greens in your smoothie.

SLIGHTLY GREEN: This can be normal.

YELLOW: Suggests fat malabsorption, possibly celiac disease, or excessive fat consumption.

RED: Could be a lower GI bleed or you ate beets yesterday.

PALE/CLAY-COLORED: A bile duct blockage is a consideration for this one.

But color isn’t the only thing that matters. I actually think the form and texture of the stool is the most important thing.

Look, we can all act like we’re cool, like we never have fireworks behind that bathroom door. The reality is, aside from my wife, everyone poos! Even George Clooney..🙋🏻‍♂️

We might as well use the information in our stool to our advantage, even if we’re not necessarily going to go public in sharing it.🤷🏻‍♂️

Be sure to check his feed for more info.
